The crackling does not interrupt the audio. The crackling seems to be a layer on top of the sound. Switching back and forth between virtual (VAC/VBA) or physical (Bose QCii) devices results in crackling and clean audio respectively. They are working totally fine when not routed through any virtual audio device. I can assure, that this problem is not caused by my hardware, or the programs/games producing the actual sound. But also sometimes, it crackles without any under-/overflows or errors reported by any program in the audio chain whatsoever. Fiddling with priority and affinity settings provided by these programs, as well as via the task manager (no correlation)Īlso, sometimes but not always VAC reports under-/overflows while the audio is crackling. Changing basically all settings in VAC ran with admin rights Re-installing all audio-related drivers (including asio drivers: no correlation) Disabled all VST-plugins (FL Studio) in the audio chain (no correlations at all) The bigger the buffer, the longer it took until the crackling started. Tried everything from 128bits (which didn't work at all) to 2048bits (7168bits for VBA).

The only difference was how long it took until the crackling started. Increasing / decreasing and matching samplerates on ALL capable devices (physical and virtual). Crackling is no more or less whether CPU usage is 15% or 95%) Watching and reducing my CPU usage (I couldn't find any correlation. Restarting my PC (only a temporary fix, just as "resetting" the buffer)

Note: The crackling is definitely not caused by EMI or any other external source. for Spotify) to my Rode NT-USB (with Bose QCii connected via 3.5mm jack), there is no crackling whatsoever. Crackling only affects virtual audio devices like all channels from VAC or VBA. My physical USB and audio cables are not correlating to anything. I didn't find ANY solutions and I tried basically everything I found on the internet. Also, when there is no audio signal, there is no crackling. Not louder by the way, only more "frequent" until there is only pure crackling left. When we don't do anything, it will eventually get so intense, that we can't even understand a single word anymore. The crackling will not stop nor will it get quieter or less intense on its own. when restarting the audio engine or changing buffer settings, the crackling stops for a few minutes before eventually starting again. But, the longer we wait, the more intense the crackling/popping noises get. Initially everything sounds clear and perfect. So, a friend of mine and I have a problem when using Virtual Audio Cable (VAC), VB Audio (VBA), Voicemeeter, etc.
